UIA Hamburg Seminar, September 19-20, 2025
20 février 2025
On September 19 & 20, 2025, the UIA is pleased to invite you to the 2nd UIA Private International Law Forum in Barcelona, Spain, about the « A Sustainable World: Focus on The Transport Business. From Corporate Obligations to Contracts and Litigation ».
Register now!
The Second Private International Law Forum will focus on critical global environmental and social issues and challenges in the transport and logistics sector, with a particular emphasis on pollution prevention, environmental protection, employment practices, and corporate accountability in the industry. Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) obligations are today enshrined in many regulations and expected to be developed and reinforced further in the near future in many parts of the world. Those regulations are frequently considered to be mandatory rules, and they have extraterritorial effects, directly or indirectly, raising issues of applicability and enforcement in forums that are not necessarily those in which they were adopted. International commercial and transport operations have to deal with such issues, in a context of increasing protectionism.
We aim to discuss and explore the responsibilities of transport operators and their counterparties under international and national legal frameworks, particularly focusing on prevention and liability and how these obligations are enforced by public authorities and private parties. We hope that you will follow us during several sessions on those hot topics, including panels on corporate obligations of companies, issues related to environmental damage claims, ensuring the delivery of eco-friendly services, avoiding social dumping and compliance with antitrust and fair competition rules, among others.
This conference aims to foster discussions among experts coming from different jurisdictions on how to address the economic, environmental and labor impact of transportation through stronger regulations, innovations, and accountability measures, with the purpose of providing an exchange of experiences among all participants. We look forward to seeing you in Barcelona!
