4 avril 2025 : Invitation to the third Annual Conference of the EC Legal Service

I have the pleasure to inform you on the upcoming third Annual Conference of the European Commission Legal Service, scheduled to take place on 4 April 2025.

Building upon the success of our previous events, this year’s conference will address two important topics currently under active debates within legal circles and beyond, both of which relate to the priorities of the new Commission that took office on 1 December 2024:

1. The “Law of Sanctions”, in particular in the context of the aggression of Ukraine by Russia
2. And “EU law and Arbitration”

Our list of distinguished confirmed speakers includes among others, the following guests:

• Mr Koen Lenaerts, President of the Court of Justice of the European Union
• Ms Emer Finnegan, Director General of the Legal Service of the Council of the European Union, 
• Mr Martin Smolek, Director General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic
• Ms Martina Polasek, General Secretary of the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), World Bank Group

The conference can be attended both in person (Alcide De Gasperi room, Charlemagne building, Brussels) or online. Whether you choose to attend in person or virtually the registration is required for both modes and can be completed by 27 January 2025 through this link where you can also find the full conference programme. After 27 January, the registration will be opened to the public.

              For physical presence, it is recommended to register one person per organization to avoid overbooking.
